Programme Test Manager

Job Description

Our client currently have a number of opportunities in their team for personable, enthusiastic, diligent and experienced Programme test managers on a permanent and contract basis. You must have wide ranging experience across many technical platforms with a high level understanding of IT architecture, design, operational service & support. The ideal candidate will be delivery focused while always maintaining a high emphasis on quality. Drive quality throughout the SDLC.


  • Working on client site and with senior management to define and implement testing strategies for large or complex projects;
  • Review Solution Assessment/requirements specification documentation;
  • Design, implement and get agreement on test strategy and detailed test plans;
  • Experience of planning and estimating test preparation and execution;
  • Test scoping and estimation including resource planning;
  • Management of test pre-requisites including test environment readiness and test data provision;
  • Ensure tight management of risks, issues and dependencies;
  • Have a good understanding of the defect management lifecycle and use of metrics in testing;
  • Managing high risk test projects with significant change factors and providing expert advice on design and implementation;
  • Evidence of having worked on at least one large project from start to finish;
  • Managing complex teams of 20+ resources across disciplines and functions;


  • 6+ years of test management experience is essential;
  • Experience managing both onshore and offshore teams;
  • Vendor and stakeholder management experience essential;
  • Demonstrate an ability and previous experience in reporting at various levels within an organisation and have the ability to alter their medium/content depending on the audience;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to interact with other teams to derive information required for projects;
  • Ability to highlight and escalate risks related to assigned work;
  • Subject matter expertise in telecommunications or financial services;
  • ISTQB Advanced certification in Test Management;
  • Project management certification (e.g. PMI PMP, Prince2);
  • Service management certification (e.g. ITIL);
  • Candidates MUST be willing to travel to various client sites. There may also be opportunities to travel within Ireland, the UK and Europe;
