Lead QA Engineer

Job Description

You will lead the definition and delivery of test strategy for our clients solutions whilst acting as a mentor for a team of QA engineers. Working closely with the Product Manager, you will design QA testing strategies and proactively incorporate new methods and technologies to ensure the optimal performance and quality of software released by our client. You will deliver QA within a scrum/agile environment, challenging our software developers to produce high quality code whilst driving continuous improvement in test coverage and test effectiveness. This will involve creating new automated tests and frameworks whilst maintaining existing frameworks. Finally, you will ensure compliance with ISO 27001, company information security policies, and deliver other ad-hoc duties as required.

Your profile:

You have a degree, qualification or proven background in Computer Science and/or Software Testing. You are fluent in English, eligible to work in Ireland and can work on your own or as part of a team. In addition, you have:

  • Strong career progression through development and testing, ideally incl. exposure in a lead role;
  • Ability to understand and balance business drivers, timelines, budget and QA best practice;
  • Experience in an in-house QA / test environment, incl. performance, volume, scalability and stress testing n-tier enterprise level applications;
  • Exposure to testing software solutions in C# .NET and/or Java environments with a solid understanding of Microsoft SQL Server;
  • Experience with automation tools such as Microsoft Test Manager, Selenium, MSUnit Tests, NUnit Tests, .NET, Visual Studio, Web Performance and Load Test, JBehave, Jmeter, JUnit, Jenkins, Sonar, Findbugs, Maven;
  • Experience of coaching / mentoring more junior engineers;
  • Knowledge of or exposure to some/all of following Java EE, JavaScript, BDD, Vaadin (GWT), TFS, SCRUM, WildFly, Tomcat, XML/XSLT, SOAP & WSDL, Protobuf, Rule engine, HelpNDoc, HA (High availability);
  • Ability to respectfully challenge both peers and mangers to ensure quality is always a priority;
  • Focus on timely results, having a high degree of accountability and responsibility;
  • Self-motivated and willing to question, learn and develop;
  • Certifications such as ISEB, ISTQB and PRINCE, PMI, PMP would be advantageous;
